Hi everyone, had a bit of an emergency when I heard hissing in the basement and found water spraying out of my expansion tank. It's a Zilmet wall mount, and water was going out at the seams. I shut the water off and took it down and it was full of water, under pressure, there's a check valve on the end of it that was holding in probably 40 psi, when I unscrewed it water sprayed everywhere. I put 15psi in the air valve and it held it so I don't know what was leaking. I don't understand what that double check valve is for but I put it back on because it's the only thing I have that fits the fitting on the end of the pipe. I reinstalled the tank and turned the water on and I could hear the tank fill with water but nothing is leaking?? Very confused. I'm going to replace it but does anyone know what's going on here?
