I have a Waterpik shower head attached to a standard shower arm. One pic shows the head. The other shows with the spray part of the head removed so you can see the size of the orifice that the water flows through out of the arm. Measuring the orifice it is 5/16 inch diameter. If I attach a diverter with a 1/4 turn "selector" and that has an orifice of the same size (5/16 inch) will that affect the flow to the head itself? I don't want to negatively impact the spray from the head. Thanks!

Do you mean the grey rubber ring in this pic? It seems contoured to seal against the ball in the other picture and to provide friction against the ball to keep the head in position.

Maybe. My shower head pivots but doesn't have the ball joint. I dealt with this issue a long time ago. replace the shower head and the result was an incredibly lame flow rate. I come from the side of the woods that says, "I am paying my damn water bill, stop screwing with my water." Anyway, once I pulled the O ring out, I had a decent flow rate. I don't take long showers, but when I do, I like a heavy spray.

When I get the diverter I'll try without the O ring and let you know.
