Wife wants new kitchen sink

We have a 31 1/4 x 20 1/2 drop-in double stainless steel sink. My wife would like something a little more stylish. Since we're having a problem with our current fixture (see post in Sinks forum) this might be the time to switch.

Has anyone had experience with non-stainless sinks i.e.granite, coran, enameled, etc.? How well do they stand up? Do they scratch or discolour? Are they easy to clean?

Any comments/suggestions could be appreciated before we go shopping (in Canada).
