Hello all,

I need your help. Our American Standard Cadenza 6060E tub leaked badly the last time it was used. The leak wasn't a gradual thing, it was fine prior to this event. I removed one tile and peered inside and I can see what appears to be a small 1/8" hose that is tapped into the return suction fitting. This small hose seems like it popped off from something else, but i don't see an obvious culprit. This hose doesn't appear on the schematic diagram. I'm reluctant to attempt to replicate the conditions to determine if this little hose is the problem, for fear of damaging the finished basement below even further, but I may have to do that. Tub was new with the house in 2003 I assume.

What is this small hose, and what is my best next step here?
Any help is appreciated.

OK. It's right above an occupied bedroom, so some precautions will need to be in place.

Fill the tub up and as soon as you see water STOP. Its going to be hard to find your leak without putting
water in it.

I finally was able to get back to this today. The tub is full and the pump has been running for about 90 minutes now. No leak anywhere that I can find below the bathroom, or inside the bathroomor tub.. I've tried to recreate all conditions as they were when it leaked. the only thing different is there's no one in it. I have no explanation for this. 🙄

Splash a lot of water around the overflow plate inside the tub.

Make sure the spout is tight.

That disconnected hose makes me nervous, is that from the elbow next to it? If so, it's a classic siphon, and it won't _start_ draining till the water level in the tub gets above the highest point in the hose (maybe once a person enters the tub) and won't _stop_ until the water level drops below the elbow (or the end of the hose). Looks like it came off of _somewhere_, I'd figure out where, even if it's not on the schematics.
