I have a Kenmore Ultrasoft 480 water softener, the manufactured date is 2004. Over the past several months our water pressure throughout the house has dropped significantly, to the point you can't flush a toilet and use a sink at the same time, the water just trickles out of the faucet. But if I pull the bypass valve the water pressure is back to normal. From what I've read online it seems like the resin could be bad and causing the issue. My question is it worth spending the $130 on a new bag of resin or should I just buy a new water softener? I'm not sure what the life expectancy of Kenmore's are. Also, if I should replace it, is it ok to buy one from Lowe's or should I have a professional come out and design a system specifically for our water? (We are on a well.) Thank you, Brad
