Water line holes close to steel bim

New to plumbing.
How far can i drill holes on the joist close to steel bim its 3/4" pex that are going that way as you can see the pic

Depends on the jurisdiction... sometimes a foot sometimes 2

Those beams come with documentation telling you where/what size holes you are permitted to drill. Not a question for the internet.

what size hole are you drilling. from the picture they look very big for a 3/4 pipe

you need to be using a 1'' bit. no bigger

I found this article. Says you can drill anywhere on the panel of the engineered joist except the through the top and bottom ribs.
You still might want to check with the manufacture of the joist.

Been told from another experienced plumber that its OK. So My boss wasnt sure if im to close to the bim or no. The joist are the thin ones and the holes are 1 1/8". Thats approx 10" far from the bim

your placement is fine, i questioned the size hole cause they look big. 1 1/8 is fine.

one thing you might start thinking about doing as a habit.

I used that bit bcoz i couldnt find the 1" bit. I usually use 1" bit for 3/4" pex and 3/4" bit for 1/2" pex. Thanks for the replies
