Hi,
I am relocating a vanity during a bathroom remodel and I am wondering if I can move the trap down under the floor (have basement) to conserve space under the sink? Anybody know if there is a reason not to do this? Thanks

If you do that, you're probably going to create an S Trap which is illegal in NC. Not sure where you're at though...

Maximum drop from the drain inlet of a fixture to the crown of the trap is 24", according to International Plumbing Code. This is to prevent excessive turbulence on the outlet of the trap from blocking the trap off from it's vent. Putting the trap underneath in the basement would most certainly violate this code section.
