I have a Toto Drake (Round) from 5+ years ago (I can't remember exactly when I put it in). It flushes well, but the bottom of the bowl (the deepest part, beginning of the trap) is completely black. Toilet brush is not able to clean that area.

I noticed the other 2 toilets in my house that are at least 18 years old (came with the house) don't have that problem. They clog more easily yet the bottom stay pretty clean, and we don't clean them any more often than the Toto.

Is it a Toto thing? We are considering replacing the Toto with the newer Drake that's elongated, but now I am really concern that the same black in the bowl is an inherit problem for Toto.

I read one place how Toto don't glaze their trap intentionally so things don't stick as much. Is that the reason for the discoloration?
