Thread Sealant Tape vs. Pipe Joint Compound

I'm putting in a few more replacement faucets and just wanted an informed opinion on when to use Thread Sealant Tape and when to use Pipe Joint Compound on shut off valves, braided water supply connectors, tailpiece threads, etc.

Shouldn't have to put any on braided supply lines they tighten using compression.
I prefer pipe dope over tape but sometimes I'll use both.

You don't need any of that when installing faucets. Everything seals with a rubber or a ferrule.

Thank you both for your replies. I asked about the tailpiece because I've seen a plumber use pipe joint compound on the threads of a tailpiece and a plumbing book recommended using tape on the threads of a tailpiece. I'm installing a plastic tailpiece and pop up with the new faucet and wasn't sure whether or not to use either tape or pipe joint compound on the threads.

If there's less than half inche of threads I've used the pipe dope

I do not use Teflon tape for anything
