Shower Mixer and Tub Diverter on a different wall than tub filler and shower head

Looking to install a Kingston Brass Shower and Tub kit with a separate handle for switching from tub filler to shower head (vs the shower diverter knob on the tub filler). I know you can install just a shower mixer on a different wall than a shower head, but was wondering if this would still work with a tub and shower kit? I'd love to be able to turn on the water without getting sprayed by the cold shower.
