This is an addition to my previous post.
This is what I found after having septic tank pumped.
Damage to baffle.DSC09900.JPG
What is the likely cause of the deterioration?
Is there a remedy for this? Tank has been in use for eight years.
Thanks

The gas given off as the waste digests, reacts with the Portland Cement in the concrete, and beaks it down.

If you make sewer lines out of concrete pipe, the interior has to be lined with a plastic to keep the gas away from the concrete, or the top of the pipe roots out.

This happened to ours, the contractor replaced it with a PVC Tee assembly, and it passed Title V in MA. Didn't seem unusual or a big deal.
