We live in a house that was built in 1929. A bathroom sink has a pipe that leads to the basement and the bowl shown in the attached picture. It's almost like a second sink with a trap. There's already a trap in the sink in the bathroom. It's falling apart and I'd like to get rid of it. Does anyone know why it's there and can I eliminate it with just a straight pipe?
