I have an American standard ultra mix shower faucet. Single handle for hot and cold. The check stop valve on the hot water side was leaking slightly so i ordered a replacement valve. Tonight I replaced the check stop. It seemed straightforward...unscrewed the old one and screwed in the new one.

I now have just a trickle of hot water through the faucet. Pressure on the cold side seems fine. I tried to put the old valve back in with no improvement.

The cartridge was replaced by me within the last 6 months and has been working fine until now so unless I could have damaged it while installing the check stop it seems unlikely it's the problem.

I don't see a separate balancing spool so I guess it must be inside the cartridge.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
