Do you have any idea as to when or what gets you up to 140ish psi?
Yes 80 psi static pressure is typically the maximum allowed by plumbing codes. Anything below that should be okay provided you don't have any water hammering and/or too high a velocity in any of your piping.
I consider too high of a velocity when the flow gets a bit noisy or around 8 to 10 fps, or above. Examples: Above 6 gpm for 1/2" pipe, 12 to 15 gpm for a 3/4" pipe.
