Our 2006 home has an all PEX plumbing system, with the occasional copper pipe used for things like the shower valve to the shower head.
I was told our home uses PEX crimp so I purchased a tool specific to this. My question is this, can any PEX clamp be used on any of the PEX hosing?
Meaning can any of the PEX versions (A, B C or AL) accept any of the various fittings, like crimp or compression or are certain types of PEX hosing
limited to a specific type of fitting, like PEX B only uses crimp rings.

Al takes special fittings. I’ve never used it.

Pex A can be connected all kinds of ways. Crimp, expand, cinch, etc.

Pex B and C can be crimped, cinched and compressed, etc but not expanded.

I use and think Pex A is the best.

If anyone knows different, please straighten me out.

Perfect, thanks.

I was just a bit concerned I had the wrong tool. Is there a way to determine which version of PEX our house has?

It’s from the builder so that rules out AL and A. Is there a mark or color difference between B and C?

find a section of pipe and write the numbers or read the writing on it.

Probably pex A or B.
