Got an old kohler waste and overflow with what seems to me as a built in drain stopper. Wondering if this can be removed without taking the w/o assembly out or if it's built in. It's constantly clogged and I think the hair is just building up past the stopper mechanism and I can't pull it out. I can't find any comparable pictures to what I'm adding here.

You have to get behind the tub and disassemble the waste and overflow to remove the linkage assemble.

Thanks Kohler ! You suck ! And you know you do……

Is there enough bath tub flange under this old drain to allow my new drain? Not sure how I'm gonna get this old one out short of just cutting it out but don't want to go after it if I won't be able to put this new one on. I have full access in the basement so replacing the whole assembly.

Watco makes a flange that will fit your tub. Kohler still has some repair parts last I checked. That still leaves the mechanism in the drain tho.

Here's a link to the discontinued product page. There are some parts diagrams to help see how it's put together.

Was planning to remove the whole drain overflow and replace it with the plastic slip kit in. Wondering if the drain piece on those new kits is even big enough to cover the opening in the tub?!

I doubt it will be big enough to get a reliable seal.

The Watco 38306CP, and 58306CP are wide flange strainers that will fit the standard 1.865"-11.5 threads. So you would get a standard waste and overflow assembly, toss the standard width strainer, and install the wide width strainer instead.
