Piz When you pull up the knob on the spout there's a disc type piece inside that stops off the water and diverts it up to the shower head. Replace it, if that doesn't work take it back. Hope this helps...

It now works. The plumber removed the shark bite and soldered the pipe. Now it works.
I took a look at the shark bite the contractor put on and I think I see the plastic insert you were saying should be removed. See pic. I take it this plastic insert should have been removed.
