I'm replacing a tank gasket on a Kohler toilet. The gasket is K-GP51487. I've replaced other toilet gaskets and the gasket fits over the flush valve nut. I did this Kohler the same way but I've seen comments that say that the gasket should go under the flush valve nut. The toilet is not leaking but should I have removed the flush valve nut, installed the gasket, and then reinstalled the flush valve nut? The gasket that I removed was not under the flush valve nut.
I just found an installation video on the Kohler web site and it shows the gasket being installed under the flush valve nut. I goofed.
But, am I asking for trouble if I remove the flush valve nut and possibly disturb this seal point?
