Kitchen double sink plumbing problems

Bought a new place. Plumbing under kitchen sink leaks (see pic), the run from the "J" to the "T" easily disconnects leaking water (HD and Lowes) doesn't carry a longer piece. Is this the proper plumbing set up?

There's no need for two of those traps you just need one. Home Depot and Lowe's both sell 6 or 12 inch extension pieces
