Go to Menards and buy an AAV. It will filter the air out in a smell-free way. It must be on top of a riser coming from the vent that the p-trap is attached to.

aav's are for lazy plumbers and diy hacks

vent it correctly and be done with it

i will not put them in, they are dangerous ,,i have no problem drilling a hole and running a vent

Even for service repair?

if it is service repair, the vent should already be installed.

inless you are talking about adding a sink, in which case, cutting the sheet rock, drilling a hole and running a vent is the correct way to install a sink.

the aav, is because homeowners do not want to "Spend the money" to do it correctly, and the plumber is all to happy not to have to get dirty

i see no where that an aav should be installed.

they fail, causing sewer gas to be introduced into the home.

my whole job as a professional plumber is to keep sewer gas OUT of the home.

but hey, i am just an old school grumpy plumber with 30+ years experience and a bad attitude

I dont know nothing,
