Sounds like you should of called these guys the first time or are they doing what was said on this thread. Sounds like they
are doing everything that Frodo suggested to do.

Some what. How are they capping the vent.
If the old vent still extends to the roof. so are they capping at roof or in wall.
If vent is connected to other vent, capping the bottom can still collect moisture and no place to drain.

You said Island sink. Does that mean you can walk 360 around the cabinet it is sitting in or is one side still attached to a wall like a peninsula? ( Florida compared to Hawaii )
 
And, great point about capping at the roof. No point in getting moisture in that has nowhere to escape. And, yes, I'll take pics along the way.
