Hello, all. Hoping you can help. I have a leak in the main pipe that comes down through my basement, (exposed) and goes out to my Septic system. It is brass. i have a home warranty and they sent a plumber to diagnose the situation. He said it’s a pretty straightforward fix, just cut out the piece where the leak is (it’s in a joint) and replace it with a piece of PVC. He said that no one works with any other material. I know nothing about this and he hasn’t been back yet (it’s day five already!). I’m wondering if this is ok, or should it be replaced with the same Brass material. With this whole Covid situation, I don’t have the funds to have to repair this twice. Thanks.

He's right that no one's going to replace it with copper (if it's a drain pipe ... and copper), though.
