Hi everyone,

I've been smelling sewage gas in my shower (2nd floor) for quite some time now. Last week, there was a huge leak coming from the area of the shower. Turns out it was a cracked vent pipe. The plumber replaced the vent pipe and also replaced the drain pipe coming from the shower trap.

This was supposed to solve the sewage smell in the shower, however, the smell is the same, if not stronger. I took a look at the work that was done and it seems like the venting is incorrect. Do you guys agree? Also, do you think this inproper venting is what is causing the sewage smell?

Normally, we are supposed to roll the vent up to 45% when venting.
As long as you have a p-trap, there is no reason to think the vent has anything to do with sewage smell.
