How would you fix this?

1 inch pipe with 1/2 sprinkler pvc that broke off. I’m happy to plug this, or run a new 1/2 up. Any advice? Cutting the 1” pipe doesn’t seem like a great option.

You should be able to just unscrew the fitting from the pipe and then replace it.

Be sure to clean all the mud and muck off first.

Also, I would use one of those 6-inch flexible 1/2-inch connectors and then put the sprinkler head on top of it. I'm not a big fan of rigid PVC pipe in lawn sprinkler applications.
