Hi,
I'm new to the forum and new to plumbing! We have a Grundfos Type UP 15-18 B5 recirculating pump in our house which used to provide hot water instantly. However it recently started making terrible knocking and grinding noises so I turned it off. Now we have to wait quite a while for hot water in certain parts of the house, sometime several minutes. I'd like to replace the water pump but I'm not sure what all is involved. I've attached a few pics to this thread in hopes that someone can tell me how difficult this would be. The pump is installed just above our hot water tank. I was told that it is soldered in so I have to cut it out. Is that correct? If so I am wondering if I could just replace the pump motor itself and not the casing so I wouldn't have to disconnect anything. Is that possible?
Thanks everyone.
Randy
