Hello,

A novice here working with PVC pipe. I want to cut attic vent PVC pipe so I can 'snake' the bathroom sinks, so what tool do I use to get a nice, clean cut? Can I use a hacksaw with a fine-tooth blade? I really dont want to spend alot of money and buy a special tool for this single task. Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I myself prefer a Sawzall, but a hack saw will work just fine. Just remember to make your cut as straight as possible, and de-burr the ends before adding the new coupling.

To make your cut straighter a inexpensive tool to use would be a wrap a round. or take a piece of paper or equivalent and wrap it around the pipe and mark a line around the pipe with a maker, soapstone etc.

Hope this helps.
