I know that pushing pipes into connectors fully is the required way to make connections with ABS pipe.

However, I have a situation with the drain pipe being about 1/2" too short leaving only about 1" of the 1 1/2" flange pipe going into the drain pipe.

Any thoughts on the minimum amount of abs pipe that should be in the hub to make a solid connection. Is 1" okay or should I extend the drain pipe?

Thanks

I see nobody is "plumber" enough to take on this question , so I contacted Ipex Inc, manufacturer of ABS. Their engineer told me that most of the strength in the flange is in the bottom/top third (i.e. where attached to flange) of the flange pipe. FYI and FWIW.
