Since the first recall in 2012, a nearby university had 3 of them burst and replaced all throughout the campus. We also have some on our campus, but I have yet to hear if replacements are ordered.
I have been told that the repair kit from Sloan is ridiculous.
Its a metal band to strap around the plastic pressure tank vertically to keep the horizontal seam from splitting and blasting the surrounding china around the room.
This means that the pressure tank can still split and leak, just that it will not hurt anybody when it does.
That doesn't sound like a proper fix for the problem.
Over know that I have installed dozens of these over the years. Mostly in commercial properties, but some residential.
