DIY Replacing Delta shower cartridge

Hi all, newbie trying to replace a Delta one-handle shower temp/flow valve. Finally got the set screw out and removed handle. Pulled on cartridge but have this piece left in there. I suspect it is part of the cartridge and needs to come out, but I can’t see how. YouTube has many similar but none exact to my problem. Thoughts?

That’s part of the old cartridge. Grab it and yank it out of there.

Ha I will. Thanks Twowaxhack. That is I will as soon as I can turn the water off again. (I put it all back together. Spousal unit has a procedure on Friday that requires a 2-day cleansing fast, so she wasn’t pleased to not be able to use the loo.)
