Hi! First time user here. I'm trying to replace our old shower handles, faucets, etc. and I've been able to get the handle off, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the faceplate off. I see no way to remove this part I'm holding in the picture. When I turn it, it just turns on the water. Does anyone here know how to get this off so I can replace the faceplate and valve? Thanks in advance!

P.S. I tried to break it off, but that didn't work either. Also, I did remove the center screw.

That’s Moen,

The piece you’re touching, the handle adapter, should have a Phillips head screw down in the hole in the center of it.

Remove the screw then all of that pulls straight off toward you.

Thanks. I already took that screw out before I posted. I just can't seem to be able to get it off. 😞

Wiggle with pliers while pulling out.

I like to have spare parts on hand and always know where to turn the water off.
