American Standard fresh air intake?

Hi I have a high efficiency furnace with sys636 intake and exhaust. The house has three interior makeup air floor vents. My question is do I need the 5" fresh air duct that goes out the side of my house. It's in addition to the sys636 combustion air intake.

This is where the installer attached the intake. Seems over kill and it freezes up every winter.

The pvc intake & exhaust are for combustion only. The 5" duct is for return air ,it has nothing to do with combustion,You may not have had enough return air with your other returns - IT should not freeze , But I would not remove it. Have an HVAC contractor take a look at it
