I have an aerobic septic system. The high water alarm went off this evening. I turned the pump on (it normally runs only after midnight) and the sprinklers cleared out the excess water, but I know I haven't used enough water today to fill the tank, so it must be rainwater getting into the tanks.

I'm pretty sure that shouldn't happen, but this is Houston, and I've had a couple feet of rain the last two days. My drainage is pretty good, and there's no standing water around the tanks, but the ground is saturated. There are concrete lids on both tanks.

Given the unusual amount of rain, is this to be expected or do I have a problem?

Thanks.

You got some exceptionally high levels of rain there. I would give it a few days and see if it works itself out.
