The water is supposed to be almost boiling. Its not intended for dishes or hand washing.

We do re-pipes on occasion but that's as close to new construction as I get, and it doesn't hurt my feelings all all.

Cover one strainer with a wet rag and fill it with a bit of water so no air escapes. Then plunge the heck out of it.

I'd say go with CPVC solvent weld joints are more dependable than mechanical.
