Thank you all. Jeff, it is 2" PVC. I'm hopeful that installing the p trap today will lower my height enough for the drain install. I'll post an update.

I’m installing a shower in the roughed in bath in the basement. The drain is too tall. I haven’t found any PVC pieces to replace the below surface portion that resolve my problem. Any help is appreciated. See pics.
