wiring new Waste King 8000 garbage disposal

Hello, I am about to replace my old ISE Badger 5 garbage disposer with a Waste King 8000 1 HP unit. The old unit has a direct power connection (see attached), whereas my new unit has a grounded plug-in power cord (attached #2). If someone could please walk me through how to cut the current cord and convert so I can wire directly, I would appreciate the guidance. I promise to turn off power supply at the breaker before doing any work! Thanks so much in advance! I really want to learn how to do this myself, but am a newbie DIYer (just bought first house)....

As a plumber, I can't comment on setting up a plug for your garbage disposal. I have found out the hard way that there is a line drawn between the trades and what work should be done by whom. I'm not saying that it is a difficult task, but an electrician would be better suited to advise as to what to look for with regards to your breakers, wire size and other safety concerns.
Maybe I was shocked too many times early in my plumbing career.

Just have a electrician install a outlet under the sink were the existing wire is entering under the cabinet. The set up you have on the new disposal is far better for servicing the disposal then having it hard wired like the old one.

Do any of you guys have cross over licensing? My state offers a limited electrical license which allows me to wire garbage disposals, dishwashers, water heaters, etc. without having to call in a licensed electrician.
