I’m trying to fix a leaky tub faucet. I tried to use a deep plumbing hex socket to pull the old valve but there’s no hexagonal nut for the socket to grab onto.

Looks round to me.

How do I pull the valve?

Thx

Doesn't that white Teflon and stem pull out together with a little coaxing and wiggling with a pair of pliers? That's the valve cartridge.

So behind it there will a replaceable washer?

Thanks!!

I’ll give it the wiggle coaxing method tomorrow.

Put several drops of penetrating oil, such as Liquid Wrench or PB Blaster, all around where the white nylon cartridge meets the brass threaded valve body.

Let it soak in as long as possible, at least several hours.

Then wipe the nylon with paper towels, and clean off the oil with dish soap or bathroom cleaner, so you get a good grip with your wrench.

That should help it bust loose.
