Good afternoon all,

I'm replacing the tub drain on my bathtub and I'm confused on what the differences in threads are. I unscrewed the drain which was a lift and drain type and measured the threads where it threads into the tub and I came up with 1-5/8" O.D. Looking online at various toe operated ones that I would prefer I'm seeing 1-3/8" and 1-1/2" and 1-7/8" sizes. I had mistakenly bought a delta toe operated one off of Ebay but it measures 1-7/8" and it's too large to thread up. Would it be that what I'm calling 1-5/8" O.D. is actually a 1-1/2" one?

I stopped by a local builder's supply and what the package called 1-1/2" actually measures 1-3/4".....so maybe I've got something odd?

I figured out what I have is the 1-3/8" NPSM size which makes the male thread size 1-5/8" OD. Most of these toe operated ones come with bushings to bush up from the 1-3/8"size to 1-1/2" size (about 1-3/4" OD) with a supplied bushing.

YMMV, but I tried a toe operated one, and found it very slow to drain. The gap under the rubber stopper was too small. Not really a problem for a tub but when used as a shower, the water would back up.

tippy toe is not adjusted correctly
there is an adjustment nut under the tippy thing

or an allen screw depending on maker
