In November 2016 we had a problem with the shut off valves under the sinks keep popping out. We had a plumbing company come and look at it and they said we needed to replace all the shut off valves with ones that wouldn't pop out. That was a very expensive solution that didn't address the real problem of why they were popping out in the first place. We had another plumber come out and replaced the expansion tank over the hot water heater. That solved the problem until 2 weeks ago when the shut off valves started popping out again. Two years ago we attached a pressure monitor to the water faucet on the side of the house. The pressure went up really high, which is why the shut off valves were popping out. Does anyone know what could be causing all of this? Our house is 15 years old and has the original hot water heater. We were thinking about getting a new hot water heater as well as the expansion tank and hope that fixes the problem. Any thoughts on why this is happening would be appreciated.

Valves popping out??? That those stupid pex valves I saw in a new home last year. You push in to turn off and pull out to turn on.
Like these?

Yeah, those are probably the ones. Absolute Garbage, and note the capital G. Those things are so horrible that the big contractor I used to work for quit using them because of all the leaks and water damage that occurred when they used them. And I have ran into this very same problem of those things shutting themselves off.

Just bite the bullet and get them replaced. If you don't, you will wish that you had done so,.

1. Okay so your valves were replaced with a different type of valve 2 years ago. Supposedly with a different type that wouldn't pop out.

2. Two years ago you attached a pressure monitor to the water faucet on the side of the house. The pressure went up really high.

3. You're thinking about getting a new hot water heater as well as the expansion tank and hope that fixes the problem.

1. I suggest you take pictures of the valves that are now popping out.

2. I must assume the pressure was found to be really high before the water heater expansion tank was replaced.

3. Did you think of checking the expansion tank to determine if it lost all of its air and became water logged? That of course would/could cause the problem of the elevated pressure. As it did 2 years ago.

4. Didn't you have water coming out of the water heater's Pressure/Temperature relief valve at some point or another?

5. I assume you have some type of backflow preventer on your water service. Is your water meter in the house?

You may or may not know what some of these items are and it may be a good idea to take a bunch of pictures to help the forum people help talk you through how to troubleshoot the problem.
In addition to pictures of the popping valves, take pictures at your water service meter area. Including any device in the pipeline. Also, a few pictures around the water heater and expansion tank. And the water heater's Pressure/Temperature relief valve showing where the discharge pipe terminates.
