P trap help

I know this p trap is not done correctly. This causes the sink to drain too slowly. How can it be fixed? There is only about three inches from the floor of the cabinet to the pipe that goes into the wall. Any advice would be appreciated! I am a military spouse trying to figure this out on my own.

That is an illegal S-trap. The best way to fix it is to use an AAV, an Air Admittance Valve. However, some jurisdictions do not allow them.
You need to do something like this.


After the AAV, the line just needs to go down and connect with the drain line at the bottom of your cabinet.

Cut a hole on the bottom of the cabinet for a trap to fit.

I agree with TWH that the only way to do this correctly is to cut a hole in the bottom of your cabinet and set the p-trap
in the big enough hole to tighten fittings and then line the trap up with the pipe going into the wall. If it still doesn't
drain properly then put the AAV in the line. It might already be vented in the wall.
