Our house was built around 1985. Both bathrooms have these faucets shown and I can't find replacements to them because the metal shroud (as you can see) have the screw locations in the top and everything off the shelf these days are on the bottom. The control piece in the center where you turn on the water and control the temperature (sorry, I don't know the proper terms) can be found at a Lowe's but again, the shroud that comes with it has the screw holes at the bottom, not the top. This would be okay, but the graphics on the shroud showing hot and cold would be upside down and obviously not correct.

Can anyone help me out? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

That looks to be a Moen valve. And you are correct, all of the newer Moen valves that I can recall have the screws on the bottom.

The only advice that I can give is try to find a Mom & Pop hardware store or maybe check and see if Moen will sell you parts online.

Personally, I would probably replace the valve in the wall with an entire new valve, but then not everyone is too eager to tackle such a project.

This is a Valley Faucet. Do a search for VA-1 Valley cartrige.
If you want to replace the cartridge you have to be very carefull when trying to remove the round cap nut.
There are 3 small copper tubes between the cartridge housing and the valvebody. Use some WD40 or liquidwrench 1st.
Then use a pipewrench but don't try to force it off. Lock the pipe wrench onto the cap and tap it with another wrench or small hammer.
The small blows while breake it free. Forcing it will twist the tubes.

Again, the faceplate... the item I'm showing in picture #1 has the holes in the 5 and 7 o'clock positions and I need them to be in the 11 and 1 o'clock positions. The weird thing is... the picture you show in the exploded view shows the correct faceplate but when I click on the link above it, it shows the faceplate in the 5 and 7 o'clock position. All I need is the handle and the faceplate... the handle is easy to find but I can't find a faceplate with the holes oriented above the handle rather than below. I could still use that faceplate if I bought it but the "H" and "C" would be on the wrong sides and upside down.

Thanks for the link and the model number though. I was able to pull parts up but they are all newer stock on the faceplate.

I see what you mean.
Old style N/A.
They flipped it.
That sucks.
Your valve I presume does not have any screw holes at the 5 & 7.

Well aleast you have something to go with call around to your local Plumbing shops or specialty suppliers maybe the have some old stuff still.

How about drilling the holes necessary to install the plate, and use two similar screws and nuts on the back in the unusued holes and cut them flat, making them for show only, but allowing the new style plate to look finished? That's what I would do.
