I need to remove a 30 yo kitchenaid disposal. It has an old style 3 screw mount an 2 tabs on the body flip onto the mount. Do I loosen the 3 screws to allow the disposal to be pushed up to flip the tabs, or do I use brute force to push up the disposal to free the tension on the tabs. Someone with past experience with this type of mount will surely know the answer.Thanks.

Use a screwdriver for leverage and twist the flange (on top of the disposal) away to the left and it will fall into your hands.

This is not the type of mount that I have, this is the current mount similar to most new units. As I said, my unit is 30 yr old and has a "tab" on each side, not a circular connector like you pictured. It looks to "flip" back and forth, not rotate like a ring. That's why I was hoping for an older plumber to respond, because he would have experienced this type of connector.
