Default What do I do about a floor drain in my basement before adding carpet?

I am finishing my basement, which has 2 floor drains that connect to each other under the floor and then the main sewer system. One of the floor drains is in a portion I will not be finishing, near the washer, dryer, water heater. The other drain is in the middle of the floor where I will be putting a bedroom. I will be adding superseal dimpled polyethylene and then carpet. My basement has an everydry drainage system and sump pump with backup. What should I do about the floor drain?

If you've lived there long enough to know for sure that water will not be an issue in the future, you can permanently cap and seal the drain. Otherwise, you might consider a tile floor leaving the drain functioning (be sure it has a working wet trap to keep odors under control) and use area rugs for barefoot comfort.
