Hello,

I'm fairly new to plumbing but I am trying to identify the problem and maybe get an idea of how large this project will be. I have a 3 knob shower/bathtub system similar to the image below:

When I turn the hot water knob too much, I hear a loud groaning noise in the pipes. This noise reduces as I close the hot water. The shower head was recently replaced so I don't think there is an issue there. There are no issues with the hot water/cold water/water pressure anywhere else in the house. This noise only happens to the shower/bathtub fixture.

The loud noise you are hearing is coming from the actually hardware of the water knob. There may be an issue with the way the knob is screwed on. Replacing it is an option, or removing it and trying to reassemble it properly.
