would it affect pipes in a bathroom if you never run water through them?

It never hurts to exercise your plumbing. Especially since traps tend to dry out. If this is for an empty/seldom used home/fixture I would cycle them once a month or so.

I mean water pipes in bathroom.. shower pipes to be exact. I go to a gym everyday and take shower there, so no need to waste hot water at home. but I wonder whether would it affect those pipes or not if not using them for a long period?

A few weeks of being idle should be fine.

Otherwise, as posted above, eventually traps could dry out and sewer stink can come in, along with tiny flies.

And faucets could get stiff.

Nosy neighbors might think you are going unwashed, haha.
