Thanks voletl and Diehard, unfortunately I don't have room for the separate floor vent and drain pipe, that's why I was wondering if any of my three configurations met code. Perhaps I can get by with the AAV.

Like I said, I believe your #1 meets code. Maybe we'll get some experienced plumbers to offer their input.

Number 2 looks bad to me, because the fixture has to suck vent air out of a pipe filled with draining water.

Codes vary by states and jurisdictions.
UPC only allows what voletl posted, plus a cleanout on the foot vent where it goes up the wall.

Breplum is correct. But the traditional island vent is dead with the adaption of the AAV into the code. But for further information, we are starting to see AAVs fail.

Thanks Breplum, RenewDave, Jeff Handy, Diehard, voletl.

RenewDave - are AAVs failing to vent, or failing to keep water in?

It seems to me that since my space restricts me to my 3 options, I can go with #1 (AAV) and meet code, but #3 which does not meet code is probably safer (a better and more reliable vent). Thoughts?

Or a new #4 that adds an AAV to #3?

Well Maryland plumbing code does not use the UPC.

I believe Maryland adopted the National Standard Plumbing Code.

Neither sketch 2 or 3 meet it of course but 2 comes closer than3 since the drain action washes the end of the vent.

EDIT: An AAV may have a problem on rare occasions but it's easily replaceable.

Literally posted 2 picture of the correct way to do it... what is there to not Understand? If you can't do that .method that I posted then uses an AAV
Heres it again

voletl, not aware of anything "to not Understand". I appreciate your post and literal pictures, thanks for taking the time, it was useful. If you read the thread you will understand that I cant implement the method in your pictures and did say I could use an AAV. No harm in asking for thoughts on the trade off between meeting code versus doing something potentially better.

Rather than scaring the OP about the possible failure of AAV's why not advise as to how he may pipe it to code?

"Air Admittance Valves have been effectively used in Europe for more than four decades and they have been used in mobile and manufacturer homes in the USA for the last thirty years or more. U.S. manufacturers offer warranties that range from 20 years to lifetime. AAV’s are also IAPMO approved."

I'd venture to say that most plumbers have never seen an AAV fail in the open position allowing gas to escape. Although, I have seen mine that failed to open and had to be replaced.

There are pictures on exactly how to pipe it to code.... here I'll post another one20190319_195711.jpeg

Not sure why you're showing what all of us already know.
The point I was trying to make was how is the OP expected to do that with what he has to work with.
Can anyone offer anything even slightly positive that he could do? If not just move on. I think he has the point by now.
If he wasn't made scared about the possible failure of an AAV he probably wouldn't still be groping for a better answer.

The point is that there's two ways to do it either do the way in the picture or you use an aav. That's it end of discussion there's no other way to do it correctly and to code.

If your situation doesn't allow you to do things correctly and you're asking people for suggestions on how to maybe tweak it to make it work? No

Thanks DieHard, you nailed it. voletl can't help it, his box is the code and he gets frustrated with even the discussion of anything out of that black and white box.
Anyway, this forum was very helpful! Thanks

Listen all I'm saying is I told you exactly how to do it correctly if you want to do substandard crap work that's your own problem enjoy it and have fun and if other members of this form want to give you substandard advice then let them but it's a shame that they will
