Carnival is the cruise he's going on. I hope they don't get turned down for not having passports. I mean, I guess if they don't disembark anywhere they should be allowed on. I'm worried though. I know he'll be really disappointed if he can't go bc of a passport. he didn't even think about that when I mentioned it to him.

Havasu, that's the same link I found when looking up info about the passports. It keeps mentioning air travel. He won't go anywhere near a plane. He was unconscious for the only time he was airborne in a helicopter. He has a fear of flying. I'm actually surprised he's going on a ship because he's afraid of large bodies of water and I don't think he can swim.

I ended up putting on a coat of aquadefense on the edges of a cement board. Had a hell of a time getting the damn lid off, but it finally came off. Letting it sit for an hour at least before I do a 2nd coat. Gonna check it in a few minutes to see how it is progressing.

While reading through the process for leveling my new GE reefer, I came across a little tidbit of information that more states should follow:

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, in Plumbing Codes 248CMR, makes it illegal to use saddle valves.

Well done Massachusetts!

Zanne, hopefully he is allowed to take the trip and have him post up some pics of the plumbing in his ports of call. Keep us posted because inquiring minds want to know.

Hate those things. Its nice to see that many states are no longer allowing them.

My friend was able to board and he sent me a picture of the open water through a window on the cruise ship before he lost signal. They have some sort of internet plan where it costs $15 per day for them to use it IF they use it at all. I think he's probably just spending time with the gf and relaxing. I hope at least. Hoping his pain meds for his tooth last.

He had his mom go over to his house to watch his daughter and feed the cats. My brother checked in and she's been rearranging things in the house the way she wants and will likely steal some things before he gets back. Any tools I had over there will be gone. I tried to get him to give me back my drywall/cabinet lifter things before he left but we both forgot and I didn't know she'd be over there so I thought they would be safe. If they are gone, I'll tell him he has to replace them. He can afford to now that he has someone else helping with the bills.

I'm trying to rest today because I pushed my body too hard and its sore all over. My brain is all over the place and I need to let my body catch up. I got a curbside pickup order and picked up mail. Took my brother with me so he walked into the post office to get the mail (my knees were not up to going up those steps) and he brought the milk in.

I got myself a hot glue gun and a powered staple gun because my hands are weak. I was taking a nap but my brain kept nagging me about the cement board being on wrong-- thinking wrong side was facing out. So, I looked it up and Durock said it didn't matter which side faces out-- one side is better for adhesive and the other is better for thinset & tile but both will work for thinset application. I may have to use thinset to level it out better anyway. Might go over to my friend's house and see if my drywall holder thingies are still there and grab them to use.

I had to make a run to samsclub yesterday to get some groceries that aren't available here. Was bummed to find out Wendy's no longer has grilled chicken sandwiches-- my only reason for going there. My favorite restaurant is closed on Tuesdays and it changed names from Panda to Flying Wok. I think bc after Panda Express opened up, people kept getting the two confused. There were negative reviews of Panda Express attributed to Panda. I hope they still have the same management.

My friend said he is having fun on his cruise. Said its hot but the breeze makes it OK.

I put the hot glue gun to work and found that it works pretty well. I got the mini kind which is easier for me to hold and use. Used up almost all of my paint stirring sticks so I ordered more for curbside pickup (because I still can't for the life of me find them in the store whenever I look). The shimming isn't perfect, but its better than nothing. I also had to use some craft sticks. I'm hoping it will all hold up.

I've set my alarm to give me time to get up for the curbside order. For now I'm resting and cooling off. I worked up a sweat. I was hammering a nail back in (it was sticking out and I couldn't get it to come out) and Mom knocked on the wall.

I'll have to get pictures of my progress later.

As an aside, I may need to get some longer cement board screws for that one side wall.

I was bummed to find out that Chick Fil A was dropping their tasty salad and replacing it with a fried cauliflower sandwich. Yick!

And now to start on my 2022 taxes.

Fried Cauliflower sandwich? That sounds weird. And I loved their fine chicken salad and carrot/raisin salad.

Just saved myself a $250 service call on my gas furnace. The unit would come on, the burners would ignite and then go off in about two seconds. Google was my friend as it told me that it was probably a dirty or bad flame detection sensor (a thermocouple of course). YouTube showed me where it was on my Amana furnace and in a couple of minutes the dirty one was out, cleaned up with 800 grit sandpaper, reinstalled and Voila! Heating with gas once again!

Now I can afford to pay the IRS!

Cauliflower instead of potatoes isn't too bad, but instead of chicken? Hell no!

Blueskyhigh, I'm glad youtube & google had the answer so you were able to get it working again.

I added more shims to the side walls in my bathroom. Removed all but 1 screw from the cementboard (I'll remove it when I'm ready to move that board). I've already used both sizes of the craft sticks as shims. The setup looks messy but hopefully it will work to get the cementboards supported enough. I wish I had the strength to lift the other boards in place to test fit, but my arm is still giving me grief and I don't want to make it worse. Brother's shoulder is really bothering him. Friend is still on his cruise and will get teeth pulled when he gets back so we're looking at another week of waiting.

My brother is frustrated because his 2nd job never sent him his tax info. He's supposed to be able to find it on some employee payroll portal but they never gave him access and they haven't responded to any of his e-mails he's been sending the last couple of months. He might have to contact IRS to say his job is not giving him the info & he needs an extension. He doesn't owe anything bc his income is so low.

Meanwhile, my cat Sir Hammington has been missing for a couple of days. It's not like him to be gone this long. I'm worried something happened to him. The neighbors' big dogs keep coming into my yard, barking at stuff down in the barn, and going under my house. They've not shown aggression toward the cats in my presence but that doesn't mean they wouldn't attack when I'm not there.

I will try to get pics of my crappy shimming of the walls when my phone decides to stop being a complete turd and function like its supposed to. I spent 10min last night trying to get that @#$## thing to load the Walmart app and when that failed I tried to call but it wouldn't respond to any of the touches or button presses and I was sooo close to smashing it into bits. It's not worth anything on trade in. At one point I had to take the case off, take the back off, and remove the battery because it was frozen up but getting hot. It said it had 40% battery despite having charged all night. I put battery back in and it said 30% battery. I'm hoping it will behave better when I turn it back on. After that 10min I had to walk in to Walmart and explain that I was there for curbside pickup but my phone wasn't working. Took another 10min before they brought my stuff out and I was the only one there for curbside pickup.

Welfare check: Zanne we haven't heard from you in a while. I hope you and your family are doing okay. Happy Easter, regular and Orthodox, or Ramadan or Passover (already passed) as well!

Easter duck is on the menu here!

Sorry, got hit with fatigue for a few days. I'm feeling better now. Still waiting for my friend to be available to help with my bathroom project. I did get the longer cement board screws. I'm thinking of adding some more shims for the side walls so there is more support behind the boards. Straight down the middle I think will help.
One of my cats disappeared over a week ago. I think the neighbors dogs may have killed him but no sign of a body.

Still no sign of the kitty. The neighbor's large dogs (one of them is a pit bull) have been coming into my yard, going under the house, going into the barn, harassing my cows, and barking at stuff. My dogs bark at them from the safety of inside the house. I'm hoping there is a chance he'll come back, but realistically I know he probably won't return. There are venomous snakes, raccoons, wild boar, bobcats, & dogs out there in the woods. I keep going out and calling him in case he's still alive and can hear me.

Fatigue is hitting again today. I took my brother to get his toe surgery on Monday. The doctor said it was the hardest granuloma she'd ever seen. She cut it out and took a huge chunk of ingrown toenail as well. He'd been needing surgery for over a decade but couldn't find a place that took his insurance. The doctor only set up shop recently.

I got a really crappy printer from HP-- never buying their crap again after this. Claimed to have 6 months "free" ink. But you have to sign up for a "free trial" and then agree to a monthly "subscription" where they control how many papers you are allowed to print per month. There are limited rollovers. If you try to print more than allotted, it will stop you from printing, even if you already have the ink in the printer. In order to do wireless printing, you have to login online. The only way to bypass that is to buy a USB printer cable (which did not come with the printer) and hook it up directly to a computer to print-- which defeats the purpose of having wireless in the first place. It's also very slow.

I got Mom's state and federal taxes printed out but still need to use it to print my brother's taxes once Mom does them. But I will probably return this crappy thing. I don't want something that won't work when the internet is down. I talked to one of their CS agents and they told me that I just have to get better internet. I told them that is not possible and true to form, my internet went out during the chat. Their CS person took upwards of 5minutes to respond each time and didn't answer all of the questions. 5min for one and ignored several questions. By the time internet came back on, they were closed for the day.

My brother was initially scheduled to work this week because whoever does the schedule forgot that he told them over a month ago that he would be having toe surgery and need some days off. They re-worked the schedule though and he has the rest of the week off. He did have to swap shifts with someone on Monday and work on Sunday and then explained why he couldn't go in Tuesday. But fortunately, his boss actually cares about the well-being of employees and changed things so he could have recovery time. The company for the tech job will be losing their contract with the casino on May 6 and the company with the boss who is good to my brother will be taking over the contract. So he'll get better pay and be treated like a human being.

I'm still trying to find time when my best friend can come help work on the bathroom. I found some wooden slats for sale in Walmart clearance area. I might get more of them just in case. 75cents for a pack is not bad. I can use them as shims.

I thought my video card died last night, but apparently it needed to cool down. I hit the back of it with canned air (after shutting the computer off) and it worked again. Might need to get a new one in the future.

I'm also pondering places to put more storage in my bathroom. Thinking of putting up some shelves like in Mom's bathroom. I'm also thinking of moving the towel bar, but I'll see how things go. I started to think the towel bar would be better next to the toilet but I don't want to drip water on the toilet paper. I might raise it up a bit higher than it was and put it back in the old spot. I need to make room for the little plastic drawer thingy from Singapore and move the larger trash bin to a different location. I dump the smaller trash bin into the larger one when it gets full and then take the larger bag out when its full- which, I need to do tomorrow.

Don't fall for it. We were sucked into this, and were charging us $20 a month. We cancelled and bought our own ink cartridges, and upon installing them, the printer said we didn't have permission to use our own ink. We called HP again, said remove this, or we would call the credit card company and file a claim against them. After this, they allowed us to refill at half the price they were charging.
