I'm trying to remove my submersible pump. The bar attached to the pitless adapter corroded and broke off in the threads, at the pitless adapter. Is there any way to remove the pitless adapter without the bar, or having to dig? I have plans of looping a cable around it and breaking it free with a jack. Then pulling it the rest of the way with a pulley and my truck. Is there a better way? I plan on reusing the pitless adapter only because I don't think a new one would fit back on the old one, its pretty old...wishful thinking?

Depends on which pitless you have. Some stick out from the pipe far enough you could get a cable around it, but others do not. It is important to pull straight up as it may break the plastic casing if not pulled straight.

You might be able to put an ezy-out on the end of the pull pipe and unscrew the broken threads out of the pitless.
