No sealant needed on the venturi, just get it fairly tight. It is OK to go straight to the barb fitting. But the steel barb fitting into the brass ejector will cause it to rust out quickly. Either use a brass barb fitting or wrap the steel one with electric tape.

The barb In the pic is stainless but I changed that and ended up putting a 6” brass nipple over the venturi out of the assembly into a brass barb.

The stainless fittings Are taped and doped, brass to brass are tape only.

Well, something went right. Set the jet at 60, foot valve at 74. Hooked it up, primed it, and away we go.

First casual test running straight off the pump gave 14 GPM (about time, don't you think?)
