Hi I just Installed new shower and used a Delta 142710C-RB-120 and now that it is pretty much finished and before I finish the drywall I tested the shower and the water will not shut off.. ugh this isn't rocket science. I made sure the multi choice rough was in the proper up position, I installed the cartridge as it should be but when I test the faucet no mater if i have it all the way to the right (which it should the stop and shut off the water) or to the left the water does not even change in pressure so the valve is doing absolutely nothing. Delta instructions are pretty much useless. Any idea what I did wrong? Or does anyone know if this multichoice R1000- UNWS-3 even has a shutoff? Water was coming out full blast, no change when turning knob.

Thanks,

-Troy

Any time you install a new faucet/fixture you need to flush the lines. The easiest way is before turning the water back on open the valve to full force warm water Then open water main. On a faucet, remove the aerator prior. When installing a tub/shower valve the best way is to remove the cartridge and turn on the water for about 20-30 seconds then off. Reinstall cart. and you should be good.

Thanks House Doc, but I don't have an issue with the water running the issue is it won't turn off, I had already flushed the system prior to putting in the cartridge. I think I may have figured out the issue. The guy at Home Depot gave me the wrong cartridge for the R10000-UNWS-3, I am going to try this other one to see if it works. It would really help if Delta would tell you what cartridge to use for this MultiChoice Rough. There is absolutely nothing in the directions at all. Pretty lame on Deltas part

If you just built the shower and installed a new valve, shouldn’t the correct cartridge have been included with the valve?

Thanks, Rickyman, just not familiar with that setup.
Maybe the cartridge varies based on application?

Thanks guys, the rough came without a cartridge. Oddly enough the trim I bought had the correct cartridge so it save me from wasting another $45.00. Delta needs to do better at their documention

I'm not a big fan of Delta. I've been doing this job for 40+ years and I am a big fan of Moen products. They've only used like 4 different cartridges (I think) across their lines in the last 40 years.

Thanks Jeff, in hind site the big brand isn't always the best... i know better now when I tackle my other bathroom

The new plumbing installation most likely was not connected right. In that case just call a plumber or handyman to take care of the work. You definitely do not want to cause any unexpected leakages. Hope all went well.
