Where to place a pressure reducing valve: Before the meter or after?

Any reason why one way over the other?

    Thank you in advance.

It would go after the meter so the city doesn't have to be called out to shut off your service. You close the valves at the meter to service or replace PRV. Also Geofd had some good advice on piping layout.
